DESKTOP PUBLISHING

Desktop publishing (or DTP for short) refers to the computer-based creation of publications such as newspapers, magazines, brochures and books. It involves compiling text, images and the document layout in special software before having it all printed or published.

There are clear advantages to desktop publishing: you can publish your work immediately and revise your text as often as you want. You can also view your work on different devices.

FLEXIBLE DTP ADAPTED TO YOUR WORKFLOW

Translation and desktop publishing are often intimately connected with each other, although some languages such as Arabic or Chinese frequently pose a challenge due to the way the script or characters (‘glyphs’) work.

This is not a problem, though, as we are also flexible in our choice of formats and software. Your text will usually be edited in the source format that the files are supplied in, including all common Microsoft Office formats (e.g. .DOCX, .XLSX and .PPTX), system-generated PDF files, HTML and XML documents; and formats for standard image processing applications such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, FrameMaker and QuarkXPress.

We are happy to convert your files to different formats, edit your graphics or translations; and send them back to you ready to go to press. If the text you have is in a different format, we are happy to convert it to one of the common Microsoft Office formats or another software format commonly used for desktop publishing. We can also convert graphics and translations to your desired format.
